ABOUT

About me

PROFILE

I run the world's major marathons barefoot, carrying a cross.

This is my way of doing charity through running. 2027 is my 17th year and my 14th challenge.

I first ran the Tokyo Marathon dressed as Jesus in 2010, and went on to run it as a charity runner. After the New York City and Berlin marathons, I began running London in 2015. 2027 will be my seventh London Marathon, including the 2020 virtual race.

2018 / CHILDREN IN CRISIS

Your donations helped build a school

In 2018 I ran for Children in Crisis, a charity providing education, care and protection for forgotten children, and support for refugees and war orphans. Part of the money you gave helped build a primary school. Nothing could make me happier.

2019 / ST JOHN AMBULANCE

Thanking the people who helped me

The 2018 London Marathon was the hottest on record, and sadly there was loss of life at that race. I did not finish. At around 21 km my body went numb and stopped responding. I collapsed and was sick. The St John Ambulance team reacted quickly, and I was able to return home safely to Japan.

In 2019 I ran for St John Ambulance to say thank you, and raised £1,906.

2020 / STREET CHILD

A virtual London Marathon from Japan

The 2020 race was postponed to 4 October and limited to elite runners. Charity runners were invited to take part virtually from anywhere in the world, so I ran in Japan for Street Child, the charity that had given me my place.
